This year, Joseph Rosendo of the PBS program “Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope” walked away with the award for Host in a lifestyle/travel program. This year, Lena Hall is no exception: winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, Lena plays Yitzhak, a side-burns sporting, leather jacket wearing drag queen wanna be. Beyond ecstatic to receive her award, the Lena Hall smile spoke volumes about her personality, as did her effusive thank yous. Lena is a tried and true triple-threat. The actress spent a childhood dancing ballet, currently fronts a rock band called the Deafening, and can act with the best of them, as she recently proved in the hit musical Kinky Boots.
Lorde at Billboard Music Awards 2014
Lorde, the seventeen-year-old New Zealand songstress, seems to have blossomed into a superstar overnight. Winning the Top New Artist honor at the Billboard Music Awards this year, the Lorde smile shined behind dark red lipstick and an all-black Lanvin ensemble. The seventeen-year-old definitely has a shadowy side, one that has become known the world over for her hit song “Royals.” Lorde has come a long way, not just geographically speaking. She discovered music at the tender age of 5, stumbling into it via the avenue of drama. Writing her own lyrics, Lorde and her songs appear authentic and emotion-driven.

Luke Bryan at Billboard Music Awards 2014
The Luke Bryan smile flashed across the stage a few times at the Billboard Music Awards this year. The first time, Bryan joined forces with Florida Georgia Line to perform the energetic “This Is How We Roll.” The country star fittingly hit the stage a second time with his radio hit “Play It Again.” Bryan went on to earn awards for Top Country Artist and Top Country album for Crash My Party. Jennifer Lopez Smile at Billboard Music Awards 2014
Jennifer Lopez has come a long way from being just Jenny from the block. She is a host on the hit television show American Idol and looking better than ever. At the Billboard Music Awards this year, she was so bold as to re-create the deeply plunging green Versace dress that garnered her so much red carpet attention at the 2000 Grammys. This year, J. Lo is 14 years older and sporting a classier garment: a Donna Karan high-waisted red number, referencing old Hollywood glamor and pin-ups. The neckline is still plunging, just not quite so jaw-droppingly low. Her hairstyle is even the same, done up in a high retro ponytail. One thing is for sure: that Jennifer Lopez smile is still gleaming.
Katy Perry Smile at Billboard Music Awards 2014
Unable to arrive at the Billboard Music Awards this year due to a UK album tour, Katy performed her hit song “Birthday” via satellite. For not being on site, the pop diva still riveted the awards audience in Las Vegas. Whether or not you love her loud look, you have to give Katy credit for a taking a risk.
Kate Hudson Smile
In 2000, wavy locks coupled with that genuine Kate Hudson smile shot the actress to fame with rocker flick Almost Famous. Since then she has featured in a slew of films, primarily of the romantic comedy variety, as well as the TV show Glee. Her fun-loving nature emanates from campaign photos for fashion brand Ann Taylor (for which she has been the official face since 2012). Kate recently collaborated with the label to design 5 little black dresses, meant to offer versatility to every woman dressing up or down for an event. These dresses range from a short, belted garment to a long, asymmetrical dress (not so little, right?) with a thigh-high slit up the side.
Elizabeth Olsen Smile
Elizabeth Olsen has recently made a name for herself apart from her twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley. Well, not too removed—so far her career has primarily stuck to film and fashion, the well-traveled road of the twins. In indie flick Martha Marcy May Marlene, her breakout role as a paranoid, troubled young woman with a rough past garnered her festival award nods and has since led to a slew of other films. These include action-packed, sure-to-be-blockbusters Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron. In recent photos, the young actress looks fresher-faced and happier than ever, flashing that signature Elizabeth Olsen smile. Olsen recently announced her engagement to Boyd Holbrook, an American fellow actor and model. The two have been steadily dating since meeting on a movie set two years ago.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw Smile
Film audiences all over should brace themselves for the rise of a new leading lady by the name of Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Starring in Belle, a film gracing movie theatres nationwide this month, Gugu plays an 18th century English mix-raced aristocrat. The sumptuous period costumes alone may be enough to attract moviegoers to the theatre, not to mention the appeal of a Gugu Mbatha-Raw smile. Like her eponymous film character, Gugu is an English rose with South African roots. With theatre credits like Romeo and Juliet and Antony and Cleopatra, Gugu clearly has serious acting chops to match her star quality.

In the past, the public has not complained: Clooney has been twice named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine. Although he may soon be off the marriage market, there is no denying the power of the George Clooney smile, even if it has had a little professional help.
Gwyneth Paltrow Teeth Whitening Trend
On top of being a hot food item, coconut oil is generating buzz as a hair and skin care treatment. These days it seems there are almost no physical problems coconut oil cannot fix. You may however be surprised to hear the tropical fat extolled for teeth whitening. A not-so-timeless ensemble is the curly hair and polyester duds Cooper sported for his role as an FBI agent in 1970s era American Hustle (which also garnered an Oscar nod for Best Costume Design). This film is another collaboration with David O. Russell following their previous effort Silver Linings Playbook, which earned Cooper a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

Sally Hawkins at Oscars 2014
Nominated for her supporting role in the Woody Allen movie Blue Jasmine, Sally Hawkins looked anything but blue at the Oscars this year, opting for silver and gold hues. Her petite frame could have easily drowned in her floor length, long-sleeved Valentino gown. Instead, the embroidered ensemble served to elongate her into a statuesque beauty. Her Oscar nominated role in Blue Jasmine did not win her a statue, but it did give the Brit a chance to bum around San Francisco in denim jackets and platform wedges (all with an American dialect to boot). This was not her first time in the limelight, having won a Best Actress Golden Globe for playing a winsome schoolteacher in Happy Go Lucky in 2008.

During filming, according to the Huffington Post, the actor lost 50 pounds for his role as a man afflicted with AIDS. At the Oscars ceremony, he looked like a picture of health, down to his perfect white smile. His Dolce and Gabbana tuxedo was classic formal wear at its best. An ivory jacket tied his look together, which included a black vest, pants, and bowtie. His wife, model Camila Alves stood and sat by his side all night in a pale pink Gabriela Cadena gown. Her look and its understated elegance matched her husband and his classic tuxedo. The two looked perfectly suited for each other.
Julie Delpy at Oscars 2014
Though she did not walk away with a gold statue, Julie Delpy had a big reason to smile at the Oscars this year. She and her long-time creative partner Ethan Hawke were nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for their work with director and writer Richard Linklater on Before Midnight, the third in the trio’s dialogue-driven romantic trilogy begun in the mid-nineties.
